OUAGADOUGOU – Burkinabe Prime Minister, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, voiced his support for public media, stating on Wednesday, March 26th in Ouagadougou that they are “on the right side of history” in the struggle to reclaim territorial integrity, despite the unfounded criticisms they face.
A former journalist and director of RTB/Télé, Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo visited his former workplace midday to express his unwavering support for the workers of public media (AIB, Sidwaya, and RTB), who were unjustly criticized the previous week by Guézouma Sanogo, president of the former Association of Journalists of Burkina (AJB).
“I came to commend the work accomplished by public media. You are fully fulfilling your missions and meeting the aspirations of the moment. You are on the right side of history,” declared the Prime Minister, in the presence of the Minister of Communication, Gilbert Ouédraogo, and the directors general of AIB, Séraphine Somé Millogo, Sidwaya, Assétou Badoh Guira, and RTB, Ateridar Galip Somé.
He emphasized that the fight against terrorism is also waged in the realm of communication. “This battle being fought on the ground is also being fought in communication. It is therefore essential to support public media, which are simply doing their job. We will win this war, and you know your role in this fight,” he affirmed, reminding that the enemy constantly seeks to undermine the morale of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP).
The head of government called on public media workers to remain vigilant. “When we celebrate our victory, everyone will be able to proudly say that they contributed,” he insisted.
The Minister of Communication, Gilbert Ouédraogo, highlighted that a “wave of national solidarity” had emerged in favor of public media following these criticisms. “You are patriots, and we believe in your work,” he stated.
The Director General of RTB, speaking on behalf of public media leaders, reaffirmed the workers’ commitment to continue their mission serving the Burkinabe people with determination.
It’s worth recalling that during the general assembly of the former AJB on March 21st, the re-elected former president, Guézouma Sanogo, made offensive and unjustified remarks towards RTB and AIB.
The Superior Council of Communication (CSC) imposed a fine of 500,000 CFA francs on the private television channel BF1 for broadcasting these remarks and suspended journalist Luc Pagbelguem, the reporter, for two weeks.
OUAGADOUGOU – Le Premier ministre burkinabé, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, a apporté son soutien aux médias publics, déclarant le mercredi 26 mars dernier à Ouagadougou qu’ils se trouvent « du bon côté de l’histoire » dans la lutte pour la reconquête de l’intégrité territoriale, malgré les critiques infondées dont ils font l’objet.
Ancien journaliste et directeur de la RTB/Télé, Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo s’est rendu dans les locaux de son ancienne maison en milieu de journée pour exprimer son soutien indéfectible aux travailleurs des médias publics (AIB, Sidwaya et RTB), injustement critiqués la semaine précédente par Guézouma Sanogo, président de l’ex-Association des journalistes du Burkina (AJB).
« Je suis venu saluer le travail accompli par les médias publics. Vous remplissez pleinement vos missions et répondez aux aspirations du moment. Vous êtes du bon côté de l’histoire », a déclaré le Premier ministre, en présence du ministre de la Communication, Gilbert Ouédraogo, et des directeurs généraux de l’AIB, Séraphine Somé Millogo, de Sidwaya, Assétou Badoh Guira, et de la RTB, Ateridar Galip Somé.
Il a souligné que la lutte contre le terrorisme se mène également sur le plan de la communication. « Ce combat qui se déroule sur le terrain se mène aussi dans la communication. Il est donc essentiel de soutenir les médias publics qui ne font que leur travail. Nous allons gagner cette guerre, et vous connaissez votre rôle dans ce combat », a-t-il affirmé, rappelant que l’ennemi cherche constamment à saper le moral des Forces de défense et de sécurité (FDS) et des Volontaires pour la défense de la patrie (VDP).
Le chef du gouvernement a appelé les travailleurs des médias publics à rester vigilants. « Lorsque nous célébrerons notre victoire, chacun pourra dire avec fierté qu’il y a contribué », a-t-il insisté.
Le ministre de la Communication, Gilbert Ouédraogo, a quant à lui souligné qu’un « élan de solidarité nationale » s’était manifesté en faveur des médias publics suite à ces critiques. « Vous êtes des patriotes, et nous croyons en votre travail », a-t-il déclaré.
Le directeur général de la RTB, s’exprimant au nom des responsables des médias publics, a réaffirmé l’engagement des travailleurs à poursuivre leur mission au service du peuple burkinabè avec détermination.
Pour rappel, lors de l’assemblée générale de l’ex-AJB le 21 mars, l’ancien président réélu, Guézouma Sanogo, avait tenu des propos offensants et injustifiés à l’égard de la RTB et de l’AIB.
Le Conseil supérieur de la communication (CSC) a infligé une amende de 500 000 francs CFA à la télévision privée BF1 pour avoir diffusé ces propos et a suspendu le journaliste Luc Pagbelguem, auteur du reportage, pour une durée de deux semaines.
