Burkina Faso Suspends Cashew Nut Exports to Supply Local Industries

In a statement dated March 28, 2025, the Burkinabe government announced a measure to suspend the export of raw cashew nuts, a crucial raw material for local processing industries. This decision, effective immediately after the statement’s signing, aims to ensure sufficient availability of cashew nuts for domestic industrial units.
Thus, the export of cashew nuts is suspended throughout the Burkinabe territory until further notice. In parallel, the issuance of special export authorizations (ASEs) is also paused. Economic operators holding valid special export authorizations and having initiated customs procedures have a seven-day period to finalize their export procedures.
The statement specifies that any person or company violating this decision will face severe sanctions.
This measure aims to strengthen the supply of cashew nuts to local industries and support domestic processing, while ensuring optimal management of this strategic resource.
