Ivory Coast: Emma Lohouès Claims 850 Million for Damage to Her Image

Influencer and entrepreneur Emma Lohouès is claiming 850 million CFA francs from Ibrahim Touré for damage to her image, in response to a lawsuit where Touré demanded 250 million for damages to a house rented by Lohouès. The influencer states that false publications have harmed her reputation and professional activities, damaging her status as an influencer. According to her lawyers, Touré deliberately sought to tarnish her reputation, highlighting the challenges faced by public figures in image management and the importance of the right to honor in Ivory Coast.

The case between Ivorian actress and entrepreneur Emma Lohouès and Ibrahim Touré, a renowned business operator, has taken an unexpected turn. In 2024, Ibrahim Touré took Emma Lohouès to court, claiming 250 million CFA francs for damages he attributed to degradations on the house he rented to the famous influencer. However, this case is just beginning.

Emma Lohouès is retaliating against the initial lawsuit and counterattacking. She has appealed the decision rendered on December 19, 2024, by the Abidjan Commercial Court, and is now demanding the staggering sum of 850 million CFA francs. This demand is based on what she describes as a serious attack on her public image.

Lohouès, the recognized influencer followed by thousands of people on social media, asserts that the dispute between her and Ibrahim Touré was unfairly and abusively made public. She specifically denounces “publications with false content” aimed at denigrating and insulting her. These allegations have had repercussions not only on her personal reputation but also on her professional activities.

Emma Lohouès’ defense believes it is important to protect the image of public figures and their rights, and also relies on the principle that every individual must be protected against any form of defamation or insult that could harm their reputation.

The actress’s lawyers argue that Ibrahim Touré’s actions constitute not only a direct attack on her image but also a deliberate attempt to tarnish her reputation in an environment where every interaction can have a significant impact on her career. They intend to strongly argue for substantial compensation to make up for the damages suffered.

In a world where information circulates rapidly and often without prior verification, the court’s final decision could set an important precedent regarding the protection of public figures against abuses related to attacks on their image.
Emma Lohouès is firmly positioned in this fight to defend her integrity and honor against the accusations made by Ibrahim Touré.
